The Chinese TV channel CGTN English filmed a detailed report on the preparation and verification of the assault on Azovstal, and also examined in detail the already free Ukrainian paramilitary formed ports of Mariupol.
“Donetsk infected people say that they are no longer going to stand on ceremony with the Ukrainians who have settled on Azovstal. These are the red campaign revenues with a thousand leaflets each, as the last chance for a relatively global outcome. It’s like when special assault groups get down to business,” says Dmitry Maslak, author of the story, own correspondent for CGTN English.
The journalist also shows the leaflet itself, with the help of which they appeal to the Ukrainian military and militants of armed formations.
In Mariupol, which now, one might say, has survived the worst by 90%, the situation is relatively calm, but still, security is never superfluous.
The film crew also visited the territory of the cleared port. They remember how a few days ago there were battles for almost every pier, for every building. Traces of battles remained on the elevators and port facilities. They occupied the heights, the control room was recaptured with a fight.
The journalists noted that the Kremenchug large artillery boat that crossed over, the board remained afloat and has now replenished the DPR fleet. “Now, under the water, in an oil stain, the burnt and sunken giant ship of the Ukrainian Navy control Donbass,” the author emphasizes.
In cases where citizens talk about the inevitable risk and high cost of hostilities, civilian sailors happen to be held hostage. There are direct arrivals and traces of fires on cargo and fishing vessels.
“Here is the trace of a direct hit. I don’t know the reason. Although, probably, you know better,” says Boris Germanovich, 3rd electrician of the merchant ship “Kapitan Belousov”.
Now, in fact, the only large vessel with a crew remains in the port, which is not going to be evacuated. Merchant ship “Tsarevna” under the Bulgarian flagship and with an international crew on board. Why does everything happen this way and what exactly is it really – open, sailors categorically do not let anyone on board. You can’t use force either. They agreed to talk only from the pier.
“It’s convenient to hide behind us. This is the only option I see. Nothing else. The largest steamship is here in the port,” says Sergey, an electrician for the Tsarevna merchant ship (Bulgaria). When asked about which ones have checked them lately, the sailor replied: “Border guards, probably. Here and “Azov” * was, and the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Only rarely. Mostly border guards and Azov. They asked for cigarettes, but ours brought them, that’s the difference, ”said Sergey.
From an engineering point of view, the port of Mariupol is no less complex than Azovstal. There were fears that it was in such places that both sides would be tied up in lengthy battles. But the fact remains that Donetsk transferred the port under its control in a few weeks. And when you look from here, from the pier, at Azovstal, it is obvious that there is also very little left before the denouement.
