Sports | L1: Paris close to the coronation, stunning OM, Monaco flies away and Bordeaux gets flu

Sugar Mizzy April 20, 2022

Paris – Paris SG won 3-0 in Angers but its Ligue 1 coronation was canceled by its rival and runner-up Marseille, overthrowing against Nantes (3-2), during a fast 33rd day for Monaco and Strasbourg , terribly frustrating for Bordeaux.

– Paris must wait –

Dethroned last year by Lille, the PSG touches the tenth coronation of its history after the 24th victory of its season acquired in L1 in Angers. Kylian Mbappé’s partners only need a draw on Saturday (9:00 p.m.) against Lens to be mathematically titled.

On Wednesday, the best artificer in the championship made the powder speak again, his 22nd but of the exercise being followed by achievements from Sergio Ramos and Marquinhos.

With five rounds remaining, PSG are 15 points clear and have a more favorable goal difference than solid runners-up OM who struggled but toppled Nantes.

– Race to Europe: Monaco’s good shot –

Trailing twice at the Vélodrome, Jorge Sampaoli’s men dominated the Canaries with two penalties from Dimitri Payet (39th, 55th) and a final goal from Amine Harit (75th), definitely in a very good pass.

The Marseillais, also qualified for the semi-finals of the Europa League Conference, now have a six-point lead over a trio of competitors: Rennes, Strasbourg and Monaco.

The Rennais, third, cracked in the sold-out Meinau cauldron, where Habib Diallo and Ludovic Ajorque had put on their superhero capes. Martin Terrier, the second top scorer in L1, struck again, but it was insufficient this time.

The place on the podium is hanging by a thread for the Bretons, joined by their evening opponents and a Monaco team in great shape.

The Monegasques have chained a fifth success in a row over the month sold with, again, a “big” of the championship retained in their table of draw. After Paris SG and Rennes, it was Nice (1-0) who suffered the law of the partners of Aleksandr Golovin, scorer before half-time (45th + 2).

Monaco, fifth, has never been so high this season.

Conversely, the podium objective has lead in the wing on the side of the Nice Aiglons. RC Lens even fell one point behind after their 2-0 victory against Montpellier.

Lyon, on the other hand, no longer really represents a threat. OL lost 2-1 in Brest and their 8th place is far from their European ambitions.

– Struggle to maintain: Bordeaux still cracked –

For Bordeaux, the 2-2 draw at home against Saint-Etienne has a bitter taste, even a taste of defeat.

The Girondins had paved the way for precious success in the quest to stay, leading 2-0 after less than half an hour, but the Greens have made up for it with Denis Bouanga – his 5th but in 8 games – and Arnaud Nordin.

Above all, they thought they had pocketed their sixth victory of the season with a goal from Dean Jimmy Briand (36) scored in the 89th minute. But the video assistance was detected out of play and weighed down the atmosphere of the Matmut Atlantique.

Bordeaux remains penultimate with four points behind Saint-Etienne, now in a play-off position and which is advancing towards three complicated meetings (against Monaco, Rennes and Nice).

The Metz red lantern also had a sad evening, beaten 1-0 in Lorient with a goal scored in added time by Dango Ouattara (90th + 6). The VAR was also activated, but the realization of the Burkinabé was validated.

For the people of Lorraine, the maintenance operation seems to have been compromised. The first non-relegation player, Clermont, has an eight-point lead five days from the end.

The Auvergnats won 1-0 in Troyes, also in the last moments of the match, thanks to Mohamed Bayo (88th).

The locals demanded a penalty in added time, without getting it, which provoked the fury of some of their supporters. Projectiles were thrown at Clermont goalkeeper Ouparine Djoco.

The fate of the match also tipped over the gong in Reims, 2-1 winner of Lille with a liberating but from its captain Yunis Abdelhamid in the 92nd minute.

The maintenance seems assured for the team of Oscar Garcia, twelfth. LOSC, reigning French champions, are ninth.
