Russia threatens Moldova: Give up such rhetoric, or we will respond. The MFA in Chisinau summons the Russian ambassador
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration came with a reaction after the spokesperson of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Maria Zaharova, made several allusions to the President of the Republic of Moldova. The institution described the language used as unacceptable and decided to summon the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetov, according to Agora.md.
“The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration took note of the statement of the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, made during the briefing on April 20, which maintains unconstructive and unacceptable rhetoric against the President of the Republic of Moldova, and historical events are instrumented propaganda. Given the unacceptable language used to address the head of state of the official representative of the Russian diplomacy, the MFAEI ordered the summoning of the ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Moldova, Oleg Vasnetov, “said a statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration.
“We recommend that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation take note of the text of President Maia Sandu’s speech, which is accessible in Russian and leaves no room for interpretation,” the MFAEI statement said.
Maia Sandu enacted a law banning the display and use of symbols used in acts of war in Ukraine.
Zaharova comes with threats: We call on Chisinau to abandon such rhetoric or respond, and these answers will be painful.
After President Maia Sandu enacted a law banning the display and use of symbols used in acts of war in Ukraine, the Russian ministry’s reaction was not long in coming. The spokesperson of the institution, Maria Zaharova, came with several allusions to Chisinau, Ria Novosti reports. She urged Chisinau to refrain from certain statements, stressing that otherwise “Russia will respond and these answers will be painful.” The presidency has not yet responded to these allegations.
“I understand that Moldova is also under pressure, but there are things that cannot be betrayed. This is a real betrayal. We expressed our opinion in principle on this legislative initiative, as well as on a number of other unfriendly measures taken by the Moldovan side last Friday. Such a decision provokes, so to speak, a deep concern and indignation, “Zaharova said.
“We call on Chisinau to abandon such rhetoric or we will respond and these answers will be painful,” said a spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry.
