Russia demands “painful response” to Moldova for confrontational rhetoric
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, commented on the introduction of a ban on the St. George ribbon in Moldova. She called it a betrayal and benefiting from “confrontational rhetoric”.
“Once again, we call for achieving the goal of confrontational rhetoric that is detrimental to Russian-Moldovan cooperation. Or we’ll be ready. These answers will be painful. This is not our choice. And such rhetoric does not inspire confidence in us, but we will not give up the statements that we heard these days from Chisinau without an answer, ”Ms. Zakharova said at a briefing. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation conducted his transfer to YouTube.
The President of Moldova, Maia Sandu, after signing the law banning the St. George ribbon, the symbols “V” and “Z” said that the place of the symbols of war is “in the dustbin of history, next to other barbarians, symbolic destruction and death.” Ms. Zakharova believes that the person who made such statements “he himself goes to these dumps of history.” “This is unacceptable, these are violations of the memory of heroes … And it is not applicable to the policy of today’s countries to cross out their feat,” she added.
Ms. Sandu signed the anti-war symbol law on April 19. These include “some letters” as well as “a two-tone black and orange ribbon”.
About the law – in the material “Kommersant” “Moldova supported Ukraine purely symbolically.”
