Close to Labège 2 shopping centersoutheast of Toulouse, the great maneuvers are being prepared.
The line B connection site (CLB), this 2.7 km extension of line B of the metro from the terminus of Ramonville until Labege, should start in the next few weeks. As a reminder, the CLB must be commissioned in September 2027.
And it is very close to the shopping center that the terminus of this extension will be established, as well as a station for the 3rd metro line.
Several buildings demolished
On the side of the Labège 2 shopping center, the site is important to create the so-called station of the National Polytechnic Institute (INP), this station which will, after 2028, be common to the CLB and the future 3and line.
To make room for the metro, several buildings must be demolished. Old businesses have already been closed in recent months, such as the former Paul bakery and the former restaurant “Les Fans de Seoul”.
Part of the Place des Commerces where you can also find the signs Action, Cultura, Gémo, will also be wiped off the map.
Two signs ousted
On Wednesday April 13, 2022, in the trade union committee, Tisséo announced the eviction of two new brands located in Place des Commerces: Speedy France and Easy Cash.
Speedy France will close and the building demolished:
“The completion of the line B connection work requires the demolition of this building, which places the company Speedy France in the obligation to cease its activity”, indicates Tisséo who will compensate the garage.
Tisséo will pay 400,000 euros to Speedy. It will also cover severance pay for employees who are going to be made redundant.
In return, Speedy must have left the premises no later than May 31, 2022.
Compensation given
The demolition of the Speedy garage will have an impact on the activity of the Easy Cash brand, which operates in a building adjacent to that of the garage.
“For safety reasons, the demolition of the Speedy building requires the evacuation of the Easy Cash building and the carrying out of specific interventions inside this building. In fact, SARL Cash will have to cease its activity not only for the duration of the work, but also 15 days before the start of the work to empty the premises. It will only be able to resume its activity one month after the end of the works, the time to prepare the store for its reopening, explains Tisséo.
To compensate for the loss of profit and the depreciation of the brand’s stock, Tisséo will compensate Easy Cash for 341,000 euros.
In the medium term, the building of the Action brand, which is right on the route of the 3rd line viaduct, will also disappear.
The games and toys store, located next door, has closed for some time and its parking lot, already barricaded, announces an upcoming demolition.
Where exactly will the metro pass?
It is therefore a large part of the “commercial square” that will be impacted by the arrival of the metro for the simple reason that the viaduct will pass right in the middle.
After crossing the Lac de la Justice, the viaduct will make a bend at Place du Commerce before reaching the station which will be located just opposite the Labège 2 shopping mall.
The metro station right in the Labège 2 car park
In addition to the commercial square, the shopping center car park will also be directly affected by the metro works.
The viaduct of the 3and line will then run through the middle of the Carrefour car park to reach the Labège-Innopole station.
Tisséo details:
“Among the plots impacted by the project, there are several plots for parking use depending on the Labège 2 shopping center within the company Carrefour Hypermarchés operates a hypermarket under the Carrefour brand. Thus, during the work period, estimated at 5 years, part of this car park will be occupied/neutralized by Tisséo and therefore unusable by customers of the Labège 2 shopping center and the Carrefour hypermarket. The completion of the works will also lead to the modification of the conditions of access to the shopping centre. This change in the direction of traffic will cause some inconvenience to customers and users of the shopping center and the Carrefour hypermarket”.
On February 16, 2022, “in compensation for the damage suffered as a result of the works”, Tisséo undertook to pay the sum of 3.2 million euros.
Tisséo buys along the route of the 3rd line
The arrival of the metro in many areas of Toulouse, and therefore in Labège, has obvious consequences. Two years, Tisséo is in a process of buying land along the route of the 3rd line. In total, the transport organizing authority will spend 70 million euros to use the basement of certain owners or recover plots to carry out work or install stations.
