A derby under high intensity!
For the 103rd derby of the Côte d’Azur, the 22 protagonists set a hellish pace, going from goal to goal during the first 45 minutes. If the first act was largely dominated by the Monegasques in this derby (53% possession, ten shots therefore five on target, against four therefore zero on target for Nice), Galtier’s men could have benefited from a penalty on a very contentious at the half-hour mark.
A surface fox but!
While the two teams were already in the locker room during the two minutes of additional time, on a harmless action, just before the break, Monaco managed to unblock the situation. Once again the start of the action is on the right side of the Monegasque attack.
After a cross from Vanderson from the right, Walter Benitez quickly dives to the ground to try to ward off the danger. Aleksandr Golovin trailed, foxing surfaces, the latter scored from close range with his right foot.
It was a somewhat risky outing from the Nice goalkeeper that allowed Monaco to take the leadif the shot did not seem dangerous, the latter was powerful and forced the goalkeeper to release his ball, unfortunately for the Aiglons, a Monegasque took advantage of it to give the advantage to his team.
The first act of the derby ended with Monaco opening the scoring, which temporarily took fourth place ahead of OGC Nice.
