Jílek after Sparta: It was stuffy here, the boys bought an indulgence

Sugar Mizzy April 20, 2022

We wanted to enter the match actively, eliminate the advantages of Sparta and not let her into the pass and the ball, because she is strong in it. We wanted to be more aggressive, far more straightforward and, of course, of better quality than in Hradec, where we did not succeed.

You played in a set-up with three stoppers, why?

We may have taken Sparta by surprise, but it was a necessity for us, because we lost Zahradníček, Matoušek, Daněk, González, so we didn’t have extreme players and we had to choose a game with three stoppers. The boys managed it very well, absolutely fantastic and the introduction was terribly recorded for us, the team gained confidence and we kept Sparta at a distance. She created nothing but a conclusion and two chances.

So do you already have this style that you can switch to it at any time?

We didn’t use it in the spring, but it’s a very interesting and inspiring set-up, because it offers great opportunities, whether under pressure or in terms of construction. When an opponent wants to play, it becomes effective in defense. There are more players in the high presink position, but at the same time the security is decent. When Sparta decided to take a long kick, we had all the balls bounced. We won the first heads and Sparta did not have the first or second balloon.

Especially in the beginning, you often turned over your right side, did you want to take advantage of the fact that defense is not the strongest side of Ladislav Krejčí?

If I had to reveal the cards completely, we didn’t want Sparta to play face up. It does not have as high extreme backs as Slavia or Plzeň. We wanted to close them to play until Wednesday, because we knew that Bořek Dočkal was only playing in a higher position, so if we have good pressure, the halves will be high, so we will be able to get balloons and go on the counterattacks. Both Krejčí and Wiesner have advantages rather on the offensive. It was good that Juraj Chvátal started on the edge, he was rested, he managed the match for Béčka on the weekend, so he was also confident and the instructions were to go through Ládik. It was clear that defensive activity was not his domain. Overall, we wanted the players to allow themselves to go inside.

Radim Breite scored and added a corner kick.

Radim did not want to dig the standards at all, but we had to proceed. Juraj Chvátal and Ondra Zmrzlý did not do well. I advise hitting it well from the first practice. She has been collecting a lot from the standards for a long time, but on the other hand she is also a lot of promoters, but fortunately we took care of that. Hancko missed them so much. A goal was a big candy for Radim. I perceive that he is more of a player of destruction, a warrior, and he can prove to himself and make sure that this is not the case. He has the potential to work in technical improvement even at his age. Lukáš Greššák also helped us a lot. He gave an obviously good performance and held them.

Sparta didn’t push you in the second half. Do you appreciate it?

Sparta prevailed only in terms of possession of the ball, but only in its own half. There is a lot of talk that you lead 2-0 at half-time and the mentality of the favorite until the second half is to reverse it. I thought it was important to manage the first ten minutes, which we did very well, Sparta got nothing and the picture of the game did not change. From the 65th minute, I was convinced that we would manage the match, because I did not feel danger from Sparta, which is behind the players who were able to eliminate the advantages of the opponent. It’s one thing to beat Sparta, it’s happening, but it’s another thing to play her, and I think that was the case, which in me can be a huge emotion and respect for the team.

Plus, you worked in Sparta, is the win all the sweeter?

Not from the point of view that Jílek was in Sparta. But from the fact that Slavia, Plzeň, Sparta are the top three clubs in the Czech league. We are at home with all the very good matches taken. I wasn’t afraid that we wouldn’t be able to solve it with the game or the approach, the mentality of the players is very treacherous in this. I would like us to approach all matches in this way, but it is very difficult. But something comes to the cabin that I worked there. But I didn’t see it as Jílek’s fight with Sparta. I wanted to prepare the team for Sigma’s fight with Sparta.

9157 spectators watched your victory. How did you enjoy the atmosphere?

Sparta just pulls. Probably the most of the top three in Olomouc. I was disappointed when four thousand came against Pilsen, people here created a good atmosphere. But that’s why players and coaches do sports. The emotionality of the field and the stands is then wonderful. Spartan fans cheered very well, over time ours also joined in. In the end, it was a big euphoria, a big emotion. He deserves thanks and I would like it to be a standard in Olomouc, but I know that it is a long way to get stands with an average of six, seven, eight thousand fans.

You have spoken prominently in the title game. You have collected points from Pilsen twice, now Sparta. Aren’t you sorry you’re not in the top six?

It annoys us. We work with the team in the same way, we prepare it in the same way in Hradec as in Sparta. There was no increased preparation for either, on the contrary, we had even less time. But then something that is invaluable falls out of it, and that was in Hradec. We then have to answer if it is the fault of the players, the coaches, where the fault is. We are looking for answers, but it is a diametrical difference in what we demonstrated in Hradec. For that, I reprimanded the players a lot and it was stuffy here. There was nothing, self-confidence, running performance, everything was missing. But OK, it can happen once a season. I’m glad the guys approached Sparta, and to put it simply, they bought an indulgence. But we were definitely supposed to be in six. Against Sparta, players have shown that if we choose the right approach, we are able to play with anyone.
