In the race against time for financial survival, Wacker Innsbruck is coming under increasing pressure. By Thursday at the latest, the second division team must submit to the Bundesliga protest committee how the game can be continued. According to APA information, the saving financial injection from investor Thomas Kienle did not materialize even after Easter, which pushed the time away for the traditional club. The “Tiroler Tageszeitung” and the “Kurier” had previously reported on it.
The repeatedly promised three million euros from Kienle are still a long way off, the financier from Germany promised a “precision landing”. So far, a transfer of funds failed due to a long compliance check by the bank. The man from Stuttgart is in daily negotiations with his lawyers to find a solution. This must be in place by Thursday evening to secure Wacker’s future in professional football.
In addition, the club has been working on plan B for some time. A financial rescue is being worked on with several interim financiers from abroad, who also know about the prevailing time pressure of the club. Last Wednesday, the Tyroleans did not receive the Bundesliga game permit “as expected” in the first instance. “Nevertheless, we remain in good spirits that we can complete all relevant tasks within the late submission period and thus receive the license in the end,” said Wacker President Kevin Radi.
At least further game operations in the 2nd division are secured for the time being, the home game of the table ninth against Rapid II on Friday (6.30 p.m.) will take place with spectators as usual. Another agreement was made with the security service and the catering so as not to endanger the party. The outstanding amounts of the professional company are said to be almost two million euros, and according to “TT” the amateur company is also missing almost one million euros.
The players had recently given the club an ultimatum after the lack of salary payments. In consultation with the players’ union (VdF), a letter of deadline was sent to the traditional club’s financial straits, which demands the deadline within twelve days, the VdF explained last Thursday. It’s about the April salaries that should have been paid out at the beginning of the month.
