China expresses deep concern over Islamophobic violence in Israel, Sweden
ISLAMA BATH: China said on Wednesday that it was “deeply concerned” about the escalating violence and conflict between Israel and Palestine, especially tensions in Jerusalem.
During a regular briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said that China opposes any unilateral attempt to change Jerusalem’s historical status quo and hopes that stakeholders can remain calm, exercise restraint and prevent the situation from getting out of control.
“China believes that the Palestinian issue should not be marginalized, let alone forgotten, and the injustices that have been going on for more than half a century should not continue. China’s position on the Palestinian issue is consistent and clear,” he said.
“We have played a constructive role in its (Palestine) resolution. Last year, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Wang Yi presented a three-point proposal for the implementation of the two-state solution,” he said.
Wang Wenbin said China is urging the international community to pay more attention and input to the Palestinian issue.
“The international community, especially the major countries, should address the core of the Palestinian issue and work with Palestine and Israel to resume peace talks at an early stage, in order to realize a peaceful coexistence. “China will not end its support for the justice of the Palestinian people until the Palestinian issue is resolved,” he added.
In response to another question about reports that the far-right political party Stram Kurs (Hard Line) recently organized anti-Islam rallies in several places around Sweden and burned the Koran, which has sparked outrage among the Muslim community, Wang Wenbin said that China has noted relevant reports.
“China is always opposed to extreme behavior in attacking people with different religious beliefs and inciting conflicts between civilizations. Freedom of expression should not be used as an excuse to incite racial or cultural discrimination and create divisions in society,” he said.
“No civilization is superior to others. They differ only in character and geographical spread. We advocate replacing the clash of civilizations with the exchange of civilizations. We oppose discriminatory rhetoric against certain religions and civilizations,” he argued.
“The hope is that Sweden will learn a lesson from the matter and sincerely respect the religious beliefs of Muslims and other minority groups, protect their legal rights and interests, and combine their words to respect and protect religious freedom with actions,” he concluded. the Chinese MoFA spokesman.
