Athens: Small greenhouses “bloom” in nurseries of the municipality

Seven little ones greenhouses “Bloom” in a corresponding number of nurseries of the Municipality of Athens for our little friends so that they come in contact from an early age with the products and their importance in our nutritional value.

There, he and the young children and their teachers planted the first ones vegetables and citrus fruits in their small greenhouse, located in the courtyard of the station. The seven greenhouses were created as part of the pioneering European program «Fusilli»in which the Municipality of Athens participates together with eleven other European cities.

The aim of the program is -among other things- for young children to know, from infancy in the urban environment, the production of products of high nutritional value, which are necessary for the proper nutrition and development their. Children through their contact with the earth, learn its value and are taught from an early age to respect the environment and its products. Also, their engagement in the greenhouse of their school, is a pleasant way that is part of their daily program within it.

“The needs of our children show us the way and lead us to pioneering practices,” said after his visit, the mayor of Athens, who stressed that the goal is, next year, to expand this important program to its 68 kindergartens. .
