TOULOUSE

Toulouse. Against the government’s authoritarian offensive, let’s support Palestine Vaincra this Thursday!

This Thursday, let’s come together to stand up against the dissolution of the Collectif Palestine Vaincra!

On March 9, the Minister of the Interior announced the dissolution by decree of the Collectif Palestine Vaincra, an organization supporting the Palestinian people based in Toulouse. Faced with this repressive measure which constitutes an attack against our entire social camp, more than thirty political organizations (NPA, UCL, LJR, POI, PCOF, Comité Vérité et Justice 31…) trade unions (CGT , Sud-Solidaires, FSU, CNT) and associations (Attac, LDH, Toulouse Anti-cra, BDS…) including Révolution Permanente and Le Poing Levé, have formed a committee against the dissolution of the Collectif Palestine Vaincra. After a meeting held at the University of Mirail on April 12, the committee calls for a meeting this Thursday April 21 at 6.30 p.m., place Jean Jaurès in Toulouse.

Standing up against the government’s security offensive

While the settler state of Israel continues its offensive in the West Bank, having killed 5 people and injured several hundred Palestinians in recent days, Macron seeks to criminalize support for the struggle of the Palestinian people in France. This responds to the double interest for the French State of sparing its central commercial and military partner, Israel, and of containing the possibilities of subversive mobilization of young people in support of the struggle of the Palestinian people in France, as it is was presented in particular in May 2021.

Endorsing the amalgam widely disseminated by the government between anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism, this dissolution is facilitated by the Separatism Law adopted in 2021. As recalled by the Syndicat des Avocats de France during the unitary meeting at the University of Mirail, this law broadened the grounds for the dissolution of organizations, which gave the government a legal basis to step up its security offensive at the rate of one organization dissolution per month on average since its adoption.

After the dissolution of the CCIF, the organization fighting against Islamophobia, organizations supporting the Palestinian people were targeted, with measures taken against the Collectif Palestine Vaincra and the Comité Action Palestine. Subsequently, far-left organizations were also targeted by the government, such as the Antifascist Group of Lyon and its Surroundings (GALE), which was dissolved, and Nantes Révoltée, which continues to be repeatedly threatened. Opposing resistance to this attack is therefore a necessity, not only for those who care about the struggle of the Palestinian people against the State of Israel, but more broadly for all those who aspire to defend the side of the oppressed and could, as such, sooner or later be targeted by such a measure of repression.

A first step to counter future attacks, regardless of the election result

Such an initiative, uniting associations, trade unions and politicians, is all the more commendable in that it takes place in the context of a reactionary second round, which guarantees, whatever the result, new draconian attacks, in particular at the meeting with organizations and people who defend an anti-racist, anti-imperialist and internationalist resolution, in the continuity of the Separatism Law which stigmatizes Muslims and assimilated as such.

The committee against the dissolution of the Collectif Palestine Vaincra paves the way for an overall fight against the government’s security and draconian offensive, which notably involves the demand for the immediate release of GI Abdallah from French jails, and more broadly for defense of all the oppressed.

In the same breath as the occupations of the Sorbonne, then of various universities and high schools, the mobilization against the government’s security offensive crystallized by the dissolution of the Collectif Palestine Vaincra testifies to an aspiration of young people to fight beyond the elections imposed on us by this regime in crisis. This is why we expect many and many of you at the rally against the dissolution of the Collective, this Thursday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m. place Jean Jaurès in Toulouse! (Facebook event)
