Three new associate professorships at MCI
Further strengthening of scientific competence: Associate professorships at Manuel Ferdik, Kristina Kleinlercher and Raphaela Stadler
In recognition of their achievements in research and teaching, the MCI recently awarded three associated professorships to Manuel Ferdik from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Kristina Kleinlercher from the Department of Economics & Management and Raphaela Stadler from the Department of Tourism & Leisure Economics. With their impressive backgrounds and future-oriented specializations, they stand for innovation, creativity and entrepreneurship at MCI.
Extraordinary Prof. Dr. technical Manuel Ferdinand
After completing his bachelor’s degree in mechatronics at the Leopold-Franzens-Universität (LFU) and the UMIT Hall, Manuel Ferdik completed two master’s degrees: the master’s degree in mechatronics at the LFU and the UMIT and the master’s degree in industrial engineering at the Entrepreneurial University®. This is followed by doctoral studies at the LFU in the field of microelectronics and implantable systems.
While working on his dissertation, for which he finally received the Science Prize 2019 from the Tyrol Chamber of Commerce, Manuel Ferdik worked as a university assistant at the Institute for Mechatronics at the LFU and was instrumental in setting up the department. After graduation, Manuel Ferdik worked as Senior Production System Manager at Swarovski and was also a lecturer at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences.
His connection to academia and his great interest in teaching and research finally led him to the Department of Industrial Engineering at the Entrepreneurial School® as a Senior Lecturer in 2021, where he is currently focusing in particular on the area of data science with a focus on machine learning.

Associated Prof. Dr. Kristina Kleinlercher
Kristina Kleinlercher began her academic career at the University of Innsbruck in international economics with a specialization in marketing. After graduating, he did a doctorate in business administration at the University of St. Gallen.
She then worked as a project manager and head of the Omnichannel & Customer Experience Management competence center at the Research Center for Retail Management at the University of St. Gallen, where her numerous tasks included marketing and sales consulting for companies and project management of practical studies. In her research, teaching and consulting work, she deals with omni-channel and customer journey management, consumer behavior and digital marketing communication, among other things.
Numerous publications in trade journals followed over the years, including the article “Loyalty formation for different Customer Journey Segments” (2019) published in the Journal of Retailing, which won the Davidson Award in 2020 and the American Marketing Best Retail and Pricing Paper Award in 2021 association was awarded.
She finally found her way to the Department of Economics & Management at the MCI in September 2021, first as a senior lecturer and then as an associated FH professor for digital marketing & sales: “The MCI and the Department of Economics & Management are an ideal match for my research focus, my teaching goals and my interest in practice-oriented topics, and reflect my passion for academic research with high practical relevance.”
Associate Prof. MMag. Raphaela Stadler, PhD
After Raphaela Stadler completed her diploma in international economics and musicology at the University of Innsbruck, she was able to gain practical experience at numerous national and international events such as the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music or the Queensland Music Festival. She recognized the need for improvement for efficient knowledge management in event organisations, which is why she specialized in this area in her PhD studies at Griffith University in Australia and recently published a book entitled “Knowledge Management in Event Organisations” (2021) on the subject released.
In recent years, she has passed on her expertise in event management, among other things as a senior lecturer at the University of Hertfordshire, where she also concentrated on research projects on the topic of “events and wellbeing” and passed on recommendations for action, which are actively implemented by institutions.
Raphaela Stadler has been supporting the Department of Tourism and Leisure Management at the MCI since February 2022: “I am very pleased to be able to contribute my international experience here at the MCI and to be able to work in a creative and innovative team. I currently see very interesting and exciting developments in the tourist destination of Tyrol, and it is important to me in this regard to use my knowledge and skills from the events sector to set new accents both in teaching and in research.”
