Speed limit: speeding route defused – salzburg.ORF.at
timeline
Since the speed limit on Lamprechtshausener Straße between Salzburg and MIchaelbeuern (Flachgau) has been 80, no more fatal accidents have happened there. Previously, the speed limit was 100 and serious traffic accidents happened regularly.
This is the interim balance after nine months, Transport Councilor Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP). The police also caught fewer speeders. With more than 40,000 vehicles on weekdays, the B156, the Lamprechtshausener Straße between the city of Salzburg and Michaelbeuern, is one of the most important commuter routes in northern Flachgau and also a route with a particularly high accident frequency. The reduction in the speed limit is already having a positive effect here, says Traffic Councilor Stefan Schnöll (ÖVP): “During the period of the speed limit, we have had no fatalities and we see that the speed violations are fewer than before.
Further mitigation planned
This year, in 25 speed checks of more than 30,000 vehicles checked here, only 420 drivers were driving too fast, of which 53 drivers were more than 40 km/h faster than allowed, says Schnöll and now wants the former speeding section in the Flachgau region to be included a section control system, also equip section controls.
