Moscow must be prepared for possible aggression from the North Atlantic Alliance because of its danger at the Russian borders, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev told the Presidium of the Council for Science and Editorial Board.
Medvedev added that at present, the scientific and technological sphere of security plays a special role in assessing the state of the state: it is about development and advanced research aimed at accepting the country’s defense capability and confronting “the strongest threats.”
“We are talking primarily about considering the issue of approaching our borders. <…> And this is no longer a figure of speech, this is not a set of serious threats. We must be prepared for those aggressive actions that may occur, ”he said (quote according to TASS).
In terms of importance, it is important to increase the capacity to use its resources for the needs of the economy. “And this requires reliable, high-tech, powerful equipment – military and dual-use,” Medvedev said.
Earlier, Ambassador on behalf of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Chairman of the Committee of Senior Officials of the Arctic Council Nikolai Korchunov said that the Russian side sees the risks of unintentional associations with the North in the Arctic, because the countries of the alliance are involved in military activity in the northern latitudes.
