Gibraltar to prevail in the Malta Development Tournament 2022, reserved for the U16 Nationals of Malta, San Marino, Gibraltar and Liechtenstein. Given the last minute unavailability of Mularoni, Biagioli, Zafferani and Barbano, Cancelli launches a 3-4-3 to face the last weekly match, which took place yesterday afternoon.

At 7 ‘Giacomo Benvenuti tries, with a header from Riccardi’s cue that crosses the whole area without finding decisive deviations. The Gibraltar replica is immediate and parallel, with Carrington’s gash, which takes the time on Diaz’s corner but sends it skyrocketing. The Titans defended themselves neatly, becoming dangerous on the Giacomo Benvenuti-Domeniconi axis, which produced an interesting cross for Giacopetti. The gored seems to be winning, but Peacock immolates himself and with a spectacular head dive extends the trajectory for a corner kick.

Hands in the hair for the San Marino players, forced to immediately go to the most famous of the unspoken football: “Wrong goal, goal conceded”. At 28 ‘Gibraltar steals the ball from an unbalanced San Marino, to weave an action that leads Perera to serve from distance: outside neck that bags to Bernardi’s left and uncorks the game. The reaction entrusted to Riccardi’s free kick, who opts for Giacomo Benvenuti’s third time – imprecise shortly after the half hour. However, the draw will come before the break: the 41st minute when Domeniconi guesses the blow to reward the movement of Riccardi who – although marked – manages to serve Yazici, whose finishing results in the 1-1 goal, signed by Giacobbi.

At the beginning of the second half Gibraltar wastes an interesting free-kick at the gates of the penalty area, with Mauro. Shortly after Bartolo performs a splendid overhead kick that exalts Bernardi: two interesting technical gestures, rendered useless by the irregular position of the Gibraltar attacker. The admonition of Giacomo Benvenuti is the prelude to the new opponent advantage, which arises precisely from a lack of success in favor of the San Marino central in the 58th minute; Diaz takes full advantage of the opportunity, serving Bartolo a comfortable ball for the 2-1 header. At game time, the same attacker urges Bernardi – be careful.

Gibraltar has more in the final, also finding the safety goal in the 73rd minute: good descent by Mason, who crosses Bernardi, to the left of the goalkeeper, by beating. The swirl of changes of the last quarter of an hour does not change at the second half, in which Gennari and Casadei have to put their heart and soul into denying the opponents poker, in an infinite melee in the 80 ‘then resolved by Bernardi. There is nothing else, in the Tony Bezzina Stadium match of: Gibraltar wins the Under 16 Development Tournament, with 8 points obtained in three games (two wins in regulation time and one on penalties). San Marino closes 1 point, the result of the defeat from the spot gained against Malta.
