(ANSA) – FLORENCE, APRIL 19 – Florence today has the Renaissance architect Filippo Brunelleschi (1377-1446) in the 576th anniversary of his death. The ceremony, promoted by the Ser Brunellesco Association, took place this afternoon in the presence of the Deputy Mayor Alessia Bettini and Professor Massimo Ricci, president of the association, while the Procession of the Florentine Republic accompanied the authorities to the Cathedral where Monsignor Corti recited a prayer. As per ancient custom, a myrtle crown offered by the Municipality and a laurel crown offered by the Filippo di Ser Brunellesco association were placed at the master’s tomb in the crypt of Santa Reparata in the cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore of which Brunelleschi designed the famous dome .
