A piece of justice for Klara Berliner
A solution in the inheritance of Klara Berliner? In the town hall of the city of Hanover, an agreement has been sought for years.

The injustice that Klara Berliner suffered, like many suffer: Berliner was the niece of the inventor of the record, Emil Berliner, a wealthy Jewess in Hanover, who had been uniformly expropriated by the Nazis in the 1930s and 1940s. Most recently, before she could be deported, she had to give up her house and all her belongings. Berliner Stern in the Theresienstadt concentration camp, her possessions were auctioned off and scattered to the four winds. Only two pieces have survived: a rococo cabinet and a staminer plate, an embroidery work that has been started.

For years, the city of Hanover has been trying to find the heirs of the murdered Klara Berliner in order to return the two pieces to them. Now a solution has been found. Mayor Belit Onay will announce what this looks like on Tuesday.
Construction committee discusses e-scooters

The building committee of the city of Hanover meets on Wednesday. The program also includes dealing with e-scooters in the city. Since the scooters are not always parked heavily, but are often left on sidewalks, in discounts or green areas, there are increasing calls for a ban or at least stricter regulations for the speedsters. The building committee has joined the scooter companies’ proposal for the scooter festival stops in the city.

Dilek Ruf from the Association of German Architects and, as a representative of the housing industry, Matthias Herter from the Meravis company will discuss with him. Steffen Mallast from the board of the tenant shop Linden is there, and Kirsten Klehn from the Woge Nordstadt cooperative speaks for the self-organized housing initiatives.
The HAZ forum on Wednesday begins at 7.30 p.m., is broadcast live from the press building in Kirchrode and is open haz.de to pursue. The discussion will be moderated by HAZ editor Conrad von Meding.

TSV Hannover-Burgdorf have to run twice this week: The home game against the Hamburger SV handball team is scheduled for Thursday. On Sunday, the league rivals from Frisch Auf Göppingen will kick off. The match against Göppingen should have taken place in February, but due to the host’s many corona cases, the party was postponed and is now taking place on Sunday. The warriors go into the double burden with a tailwind – only last weekend they managed a 32:32 – draw at Foxes Berlin, second in the table.

Cherry Blossom Festival in Hiroshima Grove
It is a symbol of peace: every year, the cherry blossom festival in the Hiroshima grove in Hanover commemorates the dropping of the first atomic bomb on the Japanese city in 1945 a spanner in the works. The fact that the festival is returning this year, on April 24th, as usual with a Japanese tea ceremony and martial arts demonstrations, but also with the symbolic planting of a gingko tree, also has a meaning in view of the war and the threat of nuclear weapons being used in Eastern Europe special meaning. From 2:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the city of Hanover welcomes its guests under the cherry blossoms in the Hiroshima grove on the Alte Bult.
