BRNO

Lucie Božková is in no hurry to arrange

Sugar Mizzy April 18, 2022

The mother of three sons (thirteen, eleven and eight years old), of course, Mrs. Lucie knows how varied the operation of such a household is. Also storage-intensive…

After all, it soon became clear from our conversation that in the five years that her family has lived here, a four-room apartment with two bathrooms has undergone changes and continues.

Light over the roofs

“I like a lot of light, and even this apartment suits us. Unlike the neighboring apartments, we have a bright floor here and I also chose a white kitchen. We have been looking for such an apartment in Brno for a long time – in addition, we wanted to be in the city center.

And also arranging takes time, and I especially need to so-called space and wait for what he will say. It is better to solve things gradually, not to hurry and to buy even better things, which will eventually confirm that you have actually saved. Everything happens and it may turn out that the first idea was not the right one. I have always been so absorbed in aesthetics that it bothers me when, for example, the colors do not match… “

The apartment is so improved and dispositionally redesigned that one wonders why the original authors did not come up with such a good solution.

There are only shelves in the corner of the largest room, and there are a minimum of items on them.

“We also discovered a few unfinished and inconceivable things here, which probably showed that investors had changed during the construction, and the original architects might also be surprised. We also bought the necessary shading of the balcony ourselves.

On a large part of the apartment with custom-made furniture, I cooperated with my friend the architect Daniela Hanousková Boučková by mutual agreement. “

Comfort and quiet area

The Božks lived with their family in Boskovice, where Mrs. Lucie’s husband took care of the running of the family property after the ancestors of the aristocratic Mensdorff-Pouilly family. But also due to the children’s school attendance, they moved to Brno, from where they returned for weekends. The proximity of a school for boys also played a role in choosing another, current address.

“We searched for a really long time and I also had the idea that we would not go to the new building,” smiles the designer, finally satisfied with the apartment and the location.

“Lužánky is today like Central Park. People there rest on the lawns in the summer, exercise, dance… Social life works there and it is also a magnet for children. ”

The apartment has a little over a hundred meters and of course it is beginning to show that an extra room would be good. The eldest son is in his territory, two younger brothers fit into one room, which has a separate entrance to the terrace. The second is from the living room.

“When we decided the apartment, then he had another. From the hall, a short corridor led to one side to the chamber at its end (today there is a cloakroom just behind the front door from the former corridor). On the other hand – to the living room with kitchen – next to the ugly, glazed and double doors, as to the store… ”

“We learned them and replaced them with a wooden wall – an original painting. From the second, also remodeled, bathroom, we had a passage to the original dressing room. So in the back of the apartment we have a bedroom, our bathroom and a separate dressing room. Actually such a separate apartment. It’s our quiet zone that boys don’t go to that often. They have their rooms next door across the hall. But they also play in the living room, where we can all fit comfortably. Even to the large dining table. “

The concept of colorful interiors

Coincidence wishes for the ready, and so the neighbor on the floor, moved in at the same time, soon became a friend with a similar attitude to design.

And then also my colleague Lucie Božková. And the co-owner of a jointly founded design studio designing interiors for clients – Le Concept. The collaboration with Eva Konečná started, although she prefers dark colors, including black, in her apartment.

“Mostly, we both tend to be personal, but also timeless things that have a more lasting value and at the same time make the home a home.” They also offer accessories in their online store.

The shading from the German company is made of a material used for sails, and the ropes with winches are also operated similarly.

“When the children were young, we arranged differently. The older they get, the more I think about practical things. It is good to arrange so that it cleans well and quickly.

We don’t have a lot of storage space here. More like sliding doors and lockers. This does not mean that children do not take toys to the living room, from where we can easily ‘rake’ them. And it lives its life in their rooms, “smiles Mrs. Lucie, who is not far from the apartment to the corporate studio in the center of Brno. The concept of housing has succeeded.

There is white glass on the kitchen countertops, which is firm, pleasant to the touch, and doesn’t matter if a hot pot is placed on it. Photo: Jan Handrejch, Právo
