In Toulouse, the colossi bewitch the crowds
If spring is the season of love, the mare-dragon Long Ma and the minotaur Asterion had their first meeting this weekend, on the Trail of the Giants. On Saturday afternoon, more than 10,000 people gathered under the hot Toulouse sun to attend one of the six performances performed over the two days and see three of Compagnie La Machine’s creations walk around.
To the sound of music, on a place Bouilloux-Lafont crowded with people, the 45 tons of Long Ma suddenly shook, animated by about fifteen people. She led her walk to meet Asterion, under the gaze of the giant Spider, perched on the roof of the Halle de la Machine. All mobile phones turn to try to immortalize the scene.
As the dragon mare passed by, the many children present showed enthusiasm. “ It is too beautiful », said a little girl, perched on her father’s shoulders, not the least bit impressed by the red eyes of this 12m long metal creature. Nor by her cries, the fire that comes out of her mouth or the water that she spits out and comes to refresh the spectators. So many novelties for those who already knew the minotaur. A British couple, on vacation in the region, attend their second scene, after that of the morning, amazed by this “astonishing and splendid” spectacle.
A regulated and secure show so that the wandering of these colossi is a pleasure for the eyes. And good news for those who couldn’t attend these two days of show, they could ride on the back of Long Ma from April 19th to May 8th. Another surprise, the dragon mare, who was to return to China in mid-May, finally staying in the Pink City until the end of August.
