Arrest team tells about ‘Spiderman’: “You don’t experience this very often”
The arrest of a confused man in the Klieverink flat in Southeast in 2019 was one of the most special climbing efforts of the Amsterdam arrest team. A team member told this during an episode of the RTL program Police National Unit in Action broadcast tonight.
The man climbed during a raid like some kind of Spiderman from the balcony to another balcony. That eventually happened when the arrest team had set off a flash grenade and two climbing specialists from the team descended slowly.
nothing at all
“We’re going down and then you don’t really know anything,” said one of the two climbing specialists. “You have no control there. He can just suddenly pull off rare antics. And he can flee, freeze from fighting. You don’t know what he’s going to do.”
It went in case of flight. “Then you actually try to go as fast as possible. The moment you climb over those balconies you are actually trying to arrest the suspect as quickly as possible. The circumstances. It is actually a kind of obstacle course.”

eventually he was picked up by the two. The move made an impression on the team. “The whole total picture. In Amsterdam. In a high flat. With many people on the street. A suspect who climbs up on the outside. You don’t see that very often.”
