NICE

Neymar in legs, a Classic in cardboard

Sugar Mizzy April 17, 2022

The pretty but of Neymar, the solidity of Marquinhos, but above all a disappointing Classic: find the Tops and Flops of this match between PSG and OM (2-1).

Tops

Neymar, brilliant especially in the first period
Returning finally sharpened, Neymar connects the good performances with the PSG. The Brazilian thus perfectly launched his match by scoring a nice but on an extension recovery that came to lob Pau Lopez. Subsequently, he was one of the few Parisians to hit, to provoke the Marseille defense. With more or less success. But he will have had at least the merit of not hiding, even if his nervousness sometimes played tricks on him.

Marquinhos, well back
In bad shape lately, with the highlight of his performance in Madrid, Marquinhos has managed his 17and Classic staff. Solid from start to finish, the captain of PSG was able to reassure a jostled defense with a few decisive defensive interventions. Imperial especially in the air, he regained his sense of fair placement.

Saliba, in vain
If OM lost, he is not responsible. William Saliba again delivered a big performance on the lawn of the Park. Imperturbable, he easily contained an important client in the person of Mbappé, signing several returns on the Parisian striker. Accurate in the recovery, he thought he was OM’s hero on a goal disallowed at the end of the game for offside. But his performance, in addition to that of the first leg, conforms him to his new international status.

The flops

A very disappointing PSG-OM
We were expecting a real shock between the 1uh and the 2and and nothing happened. In total, we saw 4 shots on target, and only 2 shots in total in second (all for OM). It is therefore difficult to get carried away in front of the spectacle offered, all in a cathedral atmosphere with the cheering strike on the Auteuil bend side. First tactical, this poster ended up losing spectators with numerous stoppages and multiple faults (28). A meeting far from unforgettable with a small winner.

From guards to “ strawberries »
Many observers mentioned the turnover of goalkeepers at PSG and OM and this match may have been proof that this is not always advantageous. Holder at OM while Mandanda was expected, Pau Lopez thus opened the ball by missing his exit on the opening of Verratti which brought the goal of Neymar. Gianluigi Donnarumma returned the favor by being very feverish on a corner bringing the equalizer signed Caleta Car. Two gross errors which have not been known for a long time but it is easy to point out the management of the goalkeepers of the two clubs.

Mbappé, unrecognizable
He was the expected man of this PSG-OM in relation to his current form and his status. Except that Kylian Mbappé completely missed it. Paradoxically, it was he who scored the winning goal for his team on a well-taken penalty. But apart from that, he missed all his attempts (3) and missed quite a few easy moves for him. Beaten to the duel several times, he did not seem to have a great evening and even gave up his place before the end, very disappointed.
