Albert of Monaco will become a Genoese citizen. It will be the mayor Marco Bucci to give him honorary citizenship next Saturday in a ceremony postponed twice due to Covid. And speaking of Covid the prince this morning came back negative after contracting the virus for the second time.
It will be a very busy day that of the royal who will arrive in the Ligurian capital on Friday evening. The next day he will attend the inauguration of Euroflora and then moved to the Gaslini hospital. Among his wishes, already on the agenda, is to visit the new “red house“, the Covo degli Orsi di Sturla, the recently completed structure reserved for the parents of the little patients.
Lunch in the splendid Palazzo Pallavicino, guest of the landlord Prince Pallavicino and then in the afternoon the ceremony of conferral of the honorary citizenship of Genoa.
Alberto di Monaco will visit Euroflora exactly as his mother Gace did in 1966, when he inaugurated the first edition of the event which, at the time, took place between the pavilions of the Fair.
On the other hand the origins of the Grimaldi family are Genoese. the Grimaldis have forcefully entered the history of the city together with a few other families such as the D’Oria, the Spinola, the Fieschi and the Imperiale, expressing many characters of valor, ingenuity and weapons. The first member of the family to take possession of Monaco is Francesco, known as the “Malizia”, in 1297 who managed to conquer it and enter the fortress dressed as a monk. From that moment the fortunes of the city followed those of the noble Genoese family.
