Transmigrant wants to buy a house in Brussels with a scratch card profit
A young transmigrant currently residing in Brussels won 250,000 euros last week with a scratch card he bought in Zeebrugge. With the money he wants to buy a house in Brussels, according to his lawyer Alexander Verstraete.
S. is originally from Algeria but currently resides in Brussels. Last week he bought a scratch card in a shop in Zeebrugge and he also won the top prize with it, 250,000 euros. He first wanted to make the crossing to Great Britain, but has now decided to stay in Belgium.
“What am I going to do with that money? Buying a house in Brussels. And a car. And find a wife. And open a shop,” says S. to The last news†
The winner had to report to the National Lottery in Brussels, but that didn’t happen. After national attention in the media, the young transmigrant did come forward.
The money is currently still delivered. The police had started an investigation first but the winner did not show up and they suspected that an unjust winner would report.
Confiscated
After three people came forward, none of them turned out to be the ones that the police could recognize on the basis of camera images in the store in Zeebrugge. The winning ticket was confiscated.
justify being the three friends and acquaintances of the winner, who had asked them for help because he himself has no security. They have come in to the police to confirm the story.
The prosecutor now demands official identification of the winner before releasing the ticket again. “My client is now going to try to collect the documents,” says his lawyer Verstraete.
In addition, the winner also needs a security because the National Lottery only wants to deposit the money into his own bank account. “We are going to avoid taking advantage of him,” said Verstraete.
