The Republic of San Marino is the twelfth country in the world to ratify the ILO Convention 190 on the elimination of violence and harassment in the world of work
The Republic of San Marino is the fourth country in Europe and the twelfth in the world to have concluded the ratification process of the 2019 ILO Convention violence and harassment in the world of work (n.190). On the occasion of the ceremony held this morning in Geneva, the Secretary of State for Labor of the Republic of San Marino Teodoro Lonfernini deposited the instrument of ratification to ILO Director General Guy Ryder. The Convention represents the first international standard for combating violence and harassment at work, contrasting and preventing harmful behavior on a physical and psychological level, in every working sector and in the public and private spheres. ‘The parties involved – Government, Trade Unions and Employers’ Associations ‘, Lonfernini said in his speech,’ are working, with an inclusive approach, recognizing the complementary role and functions of all the actors, for the preparation of a “National Plan multi-year on the elimination of violence, harassment and gender discrimination in the world of work “in accordance with the provisions of the Convention itself 190. will undertake to promote the implementation of the legislation provided for by the Convention as well as to carry out assistance and monitoring activities, putting in place act necessary to prevent and combat harassment and violence in the world of work, prevention activities, information protection, and training. ‘ In the deposit of the official instrument of ratification of the Convention, Lonfernini declared: ‘As the 12th country that ratifies Convention 190, the Republic of San Marino testifies to the need to continue to pay close attention to this issue and the will to guarantee the best possible protections for male and female workers. Today we have taken an important step to “help build, together with employers, workers and their organizations, a dignified, safe and healthy working life for all”, an objective that we cannot take for granted and that we want to verify with great perseverance and commitment. ‘ At the time of the ceremony, Secretary Lonfernini was held in a private interview with Director General Ryder that concluded how important the efforts of the Republic of San Marino have been to combat the impact of the COVID 19 pandemic. The San Marino labor market, Ryder then congratulated for the sensitivity of the country and for the full activity and dynamism shown in participating in the common work confirmed by the 26 conventions currently ratified by Titan at the ILO. Finally, Ryder declared that he was attentive to the needs of the Republic of San Marino, offering the help of the organization he presides over future projects. Secretary Lonfernini responded by declaring: ‘Thank you for the work he has done and does in this which is the oldest international organization of the United Nations. Being here today represents a great honor for me as much as having completed the process of filing and ratifying the convention. ‘
