The next Science Café in Debrecen deals with animal therapy
Debrecen – The Science Café of the University of Debrecen continues its scientific dissemination series. This time, Ágnes Jakabné Bagi, a certified physiotherapist and equestrian therapist at the DE Clinic of Medical Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, will give a lecture entitled “Animal Therapists”.
During the pedagogical development and therapy carried out with the help of animals, special training in the rehabilitation and healing of dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, birds, and possibly people with various disabilities and diseases. Research shows that good results can be achieved with this special method.
Ágnes Jakabné Bagi, who will introduce herself at the Faculty of Public Health of the University of Debrecen in 2012, will present herself at the Libri Bookstore of the Forum Shopping Center in Debrecen (Csapó utca 30.) on Wednesday, April 20 at 5 pm. In 2015, he received a degree in physiotherapy from the Faculty of Health Sciences of Semmelweis University. Meanwhile, in 2013, he obtained a qualification as a hippotherapist from the Hungarian Equestrian Therapy Association, an accredited equestrian therapist. Since 2015, she has been working as a physiotherapist at the Children’s Rehabilitation Center of the Gyula Kenézy University Hospital. She considers animal-assisted therapy to be a matter of the heart. he is currently therapy with his own horse and his black labrador, Csente.
– For everyone, the company of different animals can mean joy, reassurance, recharging, help in everyday life. There are those whose mere presence, movement, calm, confidence also have a good effect, and there are those who are trained to be the right hand of man.

Animal situation has been used in Hungary for 30 years, but so far this method has rarely appeared in teacher training. Last September, the University of Debrecen’s Hajdúböszörmény Pedagogical School of Special Needs Education started a special training course in the field of animal-assisted pedagogical development, in which the AURA Helping Dog Foundation became their partner.
