Sweden Spain France will take place in 2023 in the Women’s World Cup
Sweden, Spain and France have taken places in the Women’s World Cup 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.
Sweden qualified as UEFA Group A winners and secured a place with a 1-1 draw against Ireland in Gothenburg on Tuesday. Kosovar Asllani’s late goal placed Sweden in its ninth straight World Cup.
Jenni Hermoso scored both goals in Spain’s 2-0 victory in Scotland, and ended up in place as the winner of Group B. This will be Spain’s third World Cup appearance.
France defeated Slovenia 1-0 in Le Mans to win Group I and earn a place in their fifth World Cup. Delphine Cascarino scored the only goal for Les Bleues.
Ten teams have qualified in an extended field with 32 for football’s main event, scheduled for July 20-Aug. 20 next year.
In addition to the three European troops, Australia and New Zealand have automatic berths as hosts.
China, Japan, South Korea and the Philippines qualified for the AFC Asian Cup 2022. A fourth Asian team, Vietnam, qualified for the playoffs.
The USA women’s national team is the defending world champion. The Americans will compete for a place in the tournament at the July CONCACAF W Championship in Monterrey, Mexico.
