Belgium wants to organize the final Nations League football in Brussels and Liège
Belgium is a candidate to host the Nations League final next year. If the Red Devils qualify for the ‘Final Four’, the final matches in 2023 will be played in the King Baudouin Stadium in Brussels and in the Standard stadium in Liège.
The European football association UEFA has announced that the ‘Final Four’ will be held in Belgium, the Netherlands, Wales or Poland from 14 to 18 June 2023. Those four countries were not chosen. They all belong to the same qualification group. Whoever wins the group also organizes the final, is the agreement.
Belgium will play group matches against the three other countries in June and September. The winner of the group takes part in the ‘Final Four’. Last year, Belgium lost in the semi-final against France.
The Belgian football association wants to use the organization to give the King Baudouin Stadium a makeover. In its current state, the stadium does not meet the conditions to play a top European match. The changing rooms and press rooms are already being renovated anyway. If Belgium has its group in the Nations League, the renovation of the seats will also be added. They must all have a back support. UEFA also requires that business seats can be added. The stadium of Standard does meet the conditions of the UEFA. A final file should be ready in September. The host country will be officially designated in January 2023.
“Time to organize an international football event”
Peter Bossaert, CEO of the Belgian Football Association, tells Peter Bossaert, CEO of the Belgian Football Association. But the Final Four is a compact football event with four matches in two stadiums. I am very grateful to the City of Brussels for their preparation to make the necessary interventions for a better comfort in the King Baudouin Stadium and the City of Liège to take on the organization of the other semi-final and the small final. If all the stars are in the right position, our candidacy is prevented and we can qualify for the Final Four, this premise that we wait a long time for our fans here in our country could once again offer the atmosphere of real European finals.”
