“Voting for a party that endangers Republican values would be the worst remedy.” About fifty sportsmen and sportsmen are signatories of a platform calling to block the extreme rightpublished this Tuesday, April 12, 2022 on the France Info website.
Antoine Dupont and other famous sportsmen
A forum published twelve days before the second round of the Presidential created in particular by Antoine Dupont. The star player of Stade Toulousain is thus committed alongside renowned sportsmen such as the judoka Clarisse Agbegnenouthe boxer Brahim Asloumthe handball player Nikola Karabaticthe ex-basketball player Tony Parker or the tennis player Jo Wilfried Tsonga.
“We are made aware of the difficulties that many French people are going through, we are convinced that voting for a party that would endanger republican values would be the worst remedy. The sport in which we believe, that of the values of Olympism, is made of friendship and respect; it is the place of diversity. It refuses all discrimination. Everywhere on the territory, in our cities, our suburbs and our countryside, sport is a powerful remedy for exclusion.”
“We call to vote for Emmanuel Macron”
“It is because we believe in this sport, fraternal and inclusive, that we are committed to preventing our nation from placing at its head a president who embodies the very opposite, the stigmatization of the other, the withdrawal into oneself, the nationalism. And that we therefore call to vote for Emmanuel Macron next April 24.
Two other Toulouse signatories
Note that Antoine Dupont is not the only Toulouse sportsman to engage in this forum. The ex-rugby player Frederic Michalakborn in the Pink City and trained at Stade Toulousain, also associated himself with this letter, just like the footballer Blaise Matuidi2018 world champion, also born in Toulouse.
