His disability served as a stepping stone to mount his scam. He won the trust of a young man, also deaf and dumb, whom he met by chance in the streets of Toulouse. “My client immediately placed his trust in this man he did not know. He said to himself that they could become friends because both share the same difficulties on a daily basis, ”clarifies Me Elodie Bayer, the lawyer for the deaf and dumb young man. The defendant is invited to drink coffee at home. He locates everything he can steal from the home of his young target, in particular his almost new car without a JDM brand license worth 16,000 euros.
His plan hatched, on March 2, he goes to the young man’s house and gives him a huge slap in the face, just to terrify him and who, in addition to his handicap, is particularly fragile psychologically (he is under curatorship).
“The wolf has entered the fold”
The Slovak seizes 300 euros in cash, the keys and the vehicle papers before spinning at the wheel of the JDM. He hastens to put the car up for sale on Leboncoin.fr at an unbeatable price.
Mahdjouba and Karim fall into the trap. This penniless couple, with five young children, bought the vehicle for 7,500 euros in cash and got into debt.
The author of the scam is formally identified by the young deaf and mute and by the couple. The police arrest him and search his home. 1,200 euros in cash are discovered. The rest of the loot was decayed within days. Facing the judges, he recognizes all the facts. He struggles throughout the trial to clear his company, which nevertheless participated in the scam. He explains that he staged his stunt to take revenge on a deaf and mute young man who allegedly had his hands wandering on his wife. Hypothesis swept away by his companion herself between two bursts of more or less simulated sobs.
Bérengère Lacan, the public prosecutor, almost takes on an air of disgust when she talks about the facts. “What happened is absolutely detestable. The wolf entered the sheepfold and took advantage of the great vulnerability of the victims. »
It requires 2 years in prison and a three-year ban on territory for the defendant and a four-month suspended sentence for his company. The Slovak national escapes the ban on appearing in France but is sentenced to two years in prison, including 6 months suspended and obligation to compensate the victims. His wife, meanwhile, received a six-month suspended sentence.
