Toulouse: Tisséo regains its pre-Covid attendance
Tisséo regains its pre-Covid attendance for the bus and is getting closer to it for the metro.
“After months of declining traffic on the Tisseo network, we are delighted to be getting closer to the pre-Covid level on the bus (+2% vs. 2019)” tweeted on April 7, Nicolas Misiak, the president of Tisséo Travelers. “The metro is still down (10% vs 2019) but the trend is good since we have gone from – 20% to – 10% in two months”, specifies the head of the public establishment operating transport in the agglomeration. From toulouse.
In March, Tisséo recorded 16,800,000 validations across the entire network (compared to 17,800,000 in March 2019, the reference year). That is a deficit of around 6%. “It should be noted that the calendar effects (winter holidays) are favorable this year and that our real trend is rather -10% compared to 2019”, specifies Nicolas Misiak.
“While the bus has returned to its pre-Covid level of attendance, the metro remains behind and is still impacted by the distancing and mask-wearing measures. The tramway (-13%) remains dependent on traffic at the airport, which has still not returned to its 2019 level”, comments the manager.
In conclusion, there is an upsurge in the use of public transport, especially on the bus network. The gap with the levels observed in 2019 is closing.
It is difficult to distinguish between the improvement in the health situation, the rise in fuel prices and the developments in the transport offer which have not been stopped by these various crises.
