Police accidentally bump into 221 tarantulas in a flat in Jette: “26 dangerous specimens also seized” | Brussels
jetteIn the Brussels municipality of Jette, the police have found 221 tarantulas in an apartment building. This reports La Capitale and is confirmed by the Brussels-West police zone. The cases, including 26 very dangerous ones, were seized. The resident received a report for prohibitions and trade from the spiders.
It was by accident that the Brussels-West police zone collided with the 221 tarantulas two weeks ago. “We became general about a dispute between an owner and one of the tenants of an apartment building in the Honoré Longtinstraat in Jette”, says Chief Commissioner Johan Berckmans. “Our agents also questioned the other tenants of the flats and it was in one of those apartments that the birds were discovered in plastic jars.”

Dangerous specimens
An expert has been appointed and a question identified among the birds. Some plastic jars have no lid, take the jars ready. “The spiders were seized and currently reside in a specialized center in Germany,” Berckmans said. “The resident was and a report was drawn up for the possession and trade of the spiders. Since baby spiders were also present, we suspect that the man was breeding the animals. The public prosecutor will now determine what punishment the man will receive.”
In principle, the owner can still apply for a permit to own the animals. If that doesn’t happen, the spiders will become a center of rocking movements.
