more than 1,500 people in the market “for the future”
What you must remember
More than 1,600 demonstrators
Between 1,600 people (according to prefecture) and 3,000 (according to the organizers) gathered this Saturday, April 9 on the square
Jean Macé in Lyon. Together, they marched “for the future” and against global warming.
A particular context
Beyond the political demands aimed at challenging the candidates for the presidential election, this march for the climate takes place in a particular context. Five days ago, the group of experts from the IPCC submitted a new alarming report. They call for drastically reducing our greenhouse gas emissions in all areas, from transport to industry to agriculture. They also encourage us to change our behavior (diet, consumption, etc.) in the hope of limiting global warming to +2°C by the end of the century.
Songs, pancakes and concert
Despite the sensitivity and anxiety that the subject of global warming can cause, the demonstrators marched in a good atmosphere. The procession advanced in songs and dances before heading to Place Bellecour where the associations had prepared pancakes before the concert.
