Maaris Meier (Maiatos) wins the Portuguese Women’s Cup in Albufeira
The cyclist Maari wins Meier (Maiatos) wins a second event of the Portuguese Women’s Cup Jogos Santa Casa that ended in Albufeira.
The elite category runner beat her opponents to the print, with Vera Vilaça (Velo Performance / JS Campinense) being second, followed by Iuliia Legkova (Korpo Activo / Penacova), who had won the previous race, in Cantanhede. Maaris Meier is now leading the Cup, with the same points as Iuliia Legkova.
As in the elite category, the runners in the under-23 category completed four laps on a course that totaled 77 kilometers.
Sofia Gomes (Massi Tactic) became a victory, having completed the race in 2 hours and 29 seconds, the same time as the winner of the elite category, who is part of the first group to cross the finish line. Beatriz Roxo (UCI Rio Miera/Cantabria Deporte) was second, with the same time as Sofia Gomes, followed by Nádia Henriques (Bike & Nutrition Shop), who was third, 12 seconds behind the winner. With this result, Sofia Gomes remains at the top of the Cup.
In juniors, the victory went to Laura Simão (5Quinas/Municipality of Albufeira/CDASJ) who also won the sprint, after completing the 59 kilometers that made up the race. Margarida Teodósio (Extremosul/Hotel Alísios/Cenmais) was second and Lara Fernandes (Cantanhede Cycling/VESAM) closed in third place.
In the cadet category Beat Guerra (Velo Performance/JS Campinense) managed to win, by reaching Bruna Moreriz Bike Clube) and Cassilda Carvalho (Extremosul/Hotel Alísios/Cenmais), after 43 races.
In the veteran categories, Nádia Mendes (Cantanhede Cycling/VESAM) won the master 30, Ana Neves (Bike&Nutrition Shop) the master 40 and Rosa Marques (Discover Melgaço/União Ciclista de Melgaço) the master 50.
The third competition of the Portuguese Women’s Cup Jogos Santa Casa, which will take place this Sunday, will link Paio Pires to Seixal. The arrival of the first stages is scheduled for 1:00 pm, with the elite and under-23 categories having to finish the race at 1:20 pm.
