Concert tribute to the tested people of Ukraine (vid)
The concert wanted to highlight the importance of art and its anti-war appearance through classical and jazz music.
With one celloa piano and a violin from the musical ensemble Transfer Total the Consulate General of Germany in Thessaloniki organized a concert in honor of the tested Ukrainian people, at the German School, in the East Thessaloniki.
The concert wanted to highlight through the classical and jazz music and the works of six leading composers, including two Ukrainians, the importance of art and how it can withstand a war like the one that Ukraine is suffering from Russia.
The concert closed with the song “Melody” by Ukrainian composer and former director of the Kiev Opera, Myroslav Skoryk, to pay tribute to the composer and the Ukrainian people.
Ukraine’s Consul General expresses strong disgust at crimes committed in his country while accusing the Russians of being murderers. At the same time, he appealed for help for his people.
The Consul General of Germany, Sibylla Benedik, also addressed the concert, wishing that the concert show this solidarity that everyone has for the Ukrainian. “Putin has been using the same methods with the same barbarity for years. “This must stop.”
For her part, the Deputy Regional Minister for Social Policy of the region of Central Macedonia, Melina Dermetzopoulou, stressed that the Hellenism that has been tested defends the voice of the wounded Ukrainians. At the same time, he reminded that the governor, Apostolos Tzitzikostas, is currently on the border of Poland with Ukraine and sees closely the horror of the war.
In the end the band played the national anthem of Ukraine.
The Transcription Ensemble
The Transcription Ensemble was created in 2007 and consists of Christos Grimpas on cello, Nikos Zafranas on piano and George Kandylidis on violin.
The Transcription Ensemble belonging to the new generation of Greek musicians who present intense artistic activity, giving numerous recitals and chamber music concerts in Greece but also in Europe and North America were chosen to travel to the distant Ukraine. Through music they tried to send a strong message against war and in favor of peace.
