the vent d’Autan is doing its thing again… Particularly powerful at the end of March, the gusts of wind undermined the organization of the higher school of circus arts Toulouse Occitanie (Ésacto’Lido), located in the sector of Argoulets.

Following this windy episode, the imposing white marquee, property of the City of Toulouse, lost a designated metal part on one of the eight masts of the structure. An incident that forced the municipality to close the site for safety reasons for three weeks now.

No return date

“Expertise was necessary to identify the nature of the work,” explains Alain Taillard, director of the École supérieure des arts du cirque. The city’s technical services are working so that we can resettle quickly, but for the moment we don’t have a precise date for a return to normal. In the meantime, the school and its many students are idling.

An important selection on May 2

Fortunately, the reorganization was not too complicated to set up. “We must ask the City and congratulate all those who participated so that we can quickly get in working order. We managed to find solutions in a very short time,” says the director.

Loan of a marquee

In addition to this, the Ésacto’Lido was able to benefit from a marquee – admittedly smaller, but just as effective – generously loaned since the beginning of the year by the Pôle National du Cirque d’Auch.

Classes have been relocated to the Grainerie and two rooms have been made available by the town hall. While waiting for technicians to come and check all the masts using a nacelle, Alain Taillard is worried about a situation that is starting to last.

“It will become complicated if we do not recover our premises by May 2… A hundred young people are expected for international selections, it would be a shame not to be able to welcome them. »

The entire Toulouse Occitanie circus arts school is now crossing its fingers to resume normal activity as soon as possible.
