Prague – On the new tram line from Prague’s Barrandov to Holyně, traffic starts regularly today. There are two stops on the approximately one kilometer section – Olga Scheinpflugová Square and Holyně. Tram line number five will normally run there, but by April 11 it will be replaced by “four” due to the exclusion at Anděl. On Friday, the first passengers tried out the sightseeing rides on the historic tram.
The construction costs reached about 260 million crowns, of which 200 million CZK was obtained by the Prague transport company from European funds. Next spring, it plans to build another extension from Holyna to Sliven. The tracks now end temporarily at the Holyně stop, so only KT8 two-way trams can run on the line. After completing the entire route to Sliven, the route will end in a standard loop.
Last year, the capital completed a loop on Zahradní Město from other tram lines and the extension of the tracks from the Prague Uprising in Pankrác. This year, Prague started the construction of the Depo Hostivař loop and the tram line from Modřany to Libuš. In the summer at the latest, the transport company should start the construction of the line from Divoká Šárka to Dědina and the construction of a bridge between Dvorec and Zlíchov, which will be designed for trams, pedestrians and cyclists.
