A sacristan was jostled on Friday April 8 in the morning by a “imbalance” at Saint-Étienne Cathedral in Toulouse, in the South West of France, according to a police source at franceinfo. This source assures that there were no injuries. The man fled after leaving a package, the nature of which is undetermined at this stage. As a precaution, the cathedral was evacuated. A security perimeter was established by the police and a team of deminers was dispatched to the scene.
Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin asked on Twitter to “avoid the sector” because of a “police operation in downtown Toulouse”.
