Hungary has won tenders for 220 ultra-fast car chargers
Grant decisions were taken earlier than planned on the European Network Finance Facility (CEF2) civil-military dual-use and alternative fuel transport project proposals, the Ministry of Innovation and Technology said in a statement.
Hungary boasts the most winning bids in a tie with the Poles, with five development plans out of a total of more than HUF 11 billion. Four of them are helping to further promote clean and quiet electric driving by expanding the ultra-fast charging network and building the internal charging infrastructure at the capital’s airport.
At present, electric cars can be refueled in Hungary with about 30 ultra-fast chargers with a minimum capacity of 150 kW. In addition, 220 state-of-the-art filling points have been built in three of the 70 corporate-initiated projects at most of the 70 sites. At Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport, 165 e-charging stations can be installed for ground handling vehicles, airport staff and businesses. With the investments, the spread of climate-friendly vehicles in Hungary will gain new impetus.
The recovery has been spectacular in the recent period, with the number of green license plates increasing from nearly 28,000 to almost 48,000 since the beginning of last year, about half of them purely electric.
In the rounds of the European Network Financing Facility so far, Hungary has won funds for the implementation of transport investments worth a total of HUF 680 billion. Approximately HUF 355 billion of ITM’s successful tenders will be used in domestic transport developments. Among others, the Monostori Bridge on the Danube was built at Komárom, the M15 was expanded to four lanes, the Southern Bridge railway bridge was renovated and the third track was built. CEF will also cover the costs of the environmental work of the Hungarian section of the Warsaw high-speed railway planned with the Vienna branch. In the currently open round, the European Commission and its representatives will be able to decide on the support of further Hungarian project proposals.
