The city district of Prague 10 issued a record number of passports in March. Almost two thousand people are applying for a document, which is three times more than in previous months. One of the high interest is the fear of possible reasons for the military conflict in the Czech Republic.
“People themselves say they can happen and want to be able to leave immediately if needed“
During the month of March, ie its twenty-three working days, the citizens applied for 1921 passports and in 1937 they collected them. According to the Prague 10 District Office, in the first case it is more than three times higher than in the current period, in the second even four times.
“Just to give you an idea, ten years ago it was 591 and 494. This year’s jump is undoubtedly related to the war in Ukraine. The people themselves say they can happen and want to be able to leave immediately if necessary. “ said the secretary of the office Jana Hatalová in the press release.
The office collected over a million crowns in fees
“The travel document department also broke records in other statistics. For example, we collected more than a million crowns in administrative fees in March this year, which is only five times the average“The secretary added.
The travel documents department at the office has been operating since 2000, before which passports were issued by the police.
