Number of new Ukraine refugees in Austria has fallen – Austria
The number of new Ukraine refugees in Austria has fallen in recent weeks. Recently there were only 1,200 registrations per day, after 3,200 two weeks ago.
There are also enough places available in the emergency quarters for this. However, government circles do not assume that the decline will be permanent.
Number of new Ukraine refugees in Austria has fallen
emphasizes that refugee movements have always taken place in waves. If fewer people arrive for a while, this is above all the opportunity to tackle the next climb. If there are fewer arrivals for a few days, no trend can be derived from this.
Vienna: 300 residence registrations by people from the Ukraine every day
In any case, it is not the case that it is not necessary for the accommodation now. For example, in Vienna, which was particularly affected, there are around 300 resident registrations from people from Ukraine every day, according to the APA request from the office of City Councilor Peter Hacker (SPÖ). A total of 13,900 citizens have been registered in Vienna since March 1, reports the city’s crisis management team.
Vienna: Since the start of the Ukraine war, an additional 7,700 have received basic care
Since the beginning of the war, 7,700 additional people have been admitted to basic services in the federal capital. 93 percent of them found accommodation in private quarters. Nationwide, the Federal Care Agency has been offered more than 47,000 private places.
The current decline in numbers is also reflected in the emergency shelters for those who have just arrived. Only a third of the 3,500 places available in Vienna are currently occupied. These sleeping arrangements are also available for those who want to travel further. Two weeks ago, 1,200 people were accommodated in the arrival center set up for them in Vienna, now there are 850. The numbers here have recently increased slightly. A total of 36,200 people have used the arrival center since it opened.
ÖBB fewer report refugees to Austria
The ÖBB also report fewer refugees on their trains to Austria. In mid-March, 5,000 people per day came by train, this has recently fallen to 1,000 to 2,000.
250,000 people from Ukraine crossed the border into Austria
A total of around a quarter of a million people from Ukraine have crossed the border into Austria since the beginning of the war until yesterday evening. 51,000 of them have now been registered. This is currently being done at 55 locations with around 225 devices. At the weekend alone, 95 were added. Those who WILL be registered will then receive a “blue card”, which also gives access to the job market.
Progress is now being made with the production of these documents. According to the Ministry of the Interior, around 21,000 ID cards were dispatched. Police students are used for enveloping in order to monitor the dispatch. On average, more than 4,000 ID cards are packed every day. Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (ÖVP) expressly acknowledged the good cooperation with the Austrian State Printing Office.
