He has written essays that stir up public discourse, acclaimed short prose, audio plays, lyrics, and has been playing his plays successfully across the country for decades. His poetic work is characterized by similar diversity. There are a good number of examples in his books of poems, visual poems, dismantling avant-garde gestures, refined confession, and form discipline created with the tools of folk surrealism.
Also worth mentioning is the postmodern novel process from the 1990s, Papírváros, which is claiming an increasingly prominent place in the oeuvre of the author, who considers himself primarily a poet, which is also important for the interpretation of his latest book, The Breakfast of Horses, published last year.
The Breakfast of Horses is a collection of more than 300 pages of poems written by Tibor Zalán since 2012, and with its cavalcade of pronunciation it also illustrates the diversity already mentioned. Thus, the presentation of the book in Debrecen will be about not only the publication itself, but also the career picture of Tibor Zalán.
After the discussion, those interested can listen to the reading of the KULTer.hu online cultural portal on Poetry Day.
