Portugal is the third European country with the most cryptocurrency fans, says broker XTB
More than a third – 36.3% – of investors registered on the XTB exchange platform in Portugal invested in cryptocurrencies in 2021, the exchange says.
An analysis based on 324,523 accounts opened in Europe, points out that the popularity of cryptocurrencies in Portugal is only behind the Czech Republic (41.2%) and Spain (37.7%).
Furthermore, the analysis detects that the typical cryptocurrency investor is male and 34 years old. Only 9.6% of cryptocurrency investors are female. In Portugal, this percentage rises to 10.5%.
XTB data indicates that the age of cryptocurrency investors is in line with the age of traditional investors. Cryptocurrency investors registered on the XTB platform range from 18 to 89 years of age. Younger are forex market investors (average 32 years old) and older (35 years old) are those who invest in commodities and indices.
The most traded cryptocurrency is ethereum (33%), followed by bitcoin (17%), ripple (13%), litecoin (10%) and BitcoinCash (7%), among the approximately eight thousand cryptocurrencies that do not exist on the market. . The statistical survey also indicates that 66.7% of cryptocurrency investors use mobile for trading.
