FC Bayern Munich: Robert Lewandowski threatens a hanging game – FC BAYERN MUNICH
The senses of the Bayern pros are sharpened. “Now the decisive phase of the season begins,” announced Julian Nagelsmann (34) in a team meeting last week. The championship can hardly be taken from Munich, in the Champions League they are fighting for the semi-finals next Tuesday (9 p.m.) after the 0-1 in the first leg at Villarreal.
The direction of march in the club is clear: The Spaniards must not become a stumbling block. The semi-final is mandatory. This is how it goes in the most important weeks of the season: on the pitch and at the negotiating table.
There was a first exchange on Friday with ex-Bayern professional Ludwig Kögl (56), today advisor to Thomas Müller (32). The atmosphere in the talks is positive, both sides know and appreciate each other. Ur-Bayer Müller is the first of three personal details of enormous importance: together with Manuel Neuer (36) and Robert Lewandowski (33), he forms the backbone of the successful team. All contracts expire in 2023, and a precedent could now be set for Müller: If an agreement is reached with him, the leadership could refer to it in the talks with Neuer and Lewandowski. With the three superstars being comparable in terms of age and status, a deal with Muller could be a pointer.

While those responsible at goalkeeper Neuer are still optimistic, Lewandowski’s personal situation threatens to become a stalemate: There are no talks yet, and the striker also registered the club’s interest in Dortmund’s Erling Haaland (21). Lewandowski advisor Pini Zahavi (78) is busy: He is in contact with many top clubs and is said to be exploring the possibilities for a Lewandowski transfer this summer at FC Barcelona and PSG. The pressure is increasing, the talks are getting complicated for the Bayern bosses.
Serge Gnabry (26/also contract until 2023) was able to advertise himself during his short assignment in Freiburg. He is accused of too great fluctuations in performance in the club, Gnabry is now being watched closely at the games: He wants a significant jump in salary to over 15 million euros per year, both sides are still at odds with the ideas. According to SPORT BILD information, there should be another round of talks within the next two weeks.
The weeks of truth begin for Bayern. It’s a good thing that Nagelsmann can call up his strongest eleven: Leon Goretzka (27) always won out, aiming to be back for the decisive games from April. Numerous tests were carried out on him during the four-month break to find the cause of the problems with the patellar tendon, including his teeth, which are said to have been examined. Now he delivered: In Freiburg Goretzka was in the starting XI and scored. Alphonso Davies (21/inflammation of the heart muscle) was ready for action again for the first leg in Villarreal. Nagelsmann has his top eleven available for the hottest weeks of the season.
