VIDEO: Activists in Prague are blocking traffic again. One of the drivers kicked activists on the ground Transport News Pražská Drbna
Extinction Rebellion activists again blocked traffic in Prague this morning. Last week, they implemented four blockades, namely on Vítězné náměstí, on Nuselský most, in Žitná street and in Tomášská street near Malostranské náměstí. Today, activists are blocking traffic on Wilson Street.
Kicks for activists
The blockade takes place between the Main Railway Station and the Hlávka Bridge. Shortly after the protest began, one of the drivers ran out of the car and gave one of the protesters several kicks.
“Persons are suspected of an offense against public order and face a fine of up to ten thousand crowns,” said police spokesman Jan Daněk after the first protest for Pražská Drbna.
Through traffic blockades, activists want to force the government to lower temperatures
The blockade activists want to force the government to reduce traffic temperatures in schools and offices, thus reducing the country’s dependence on gas from Russia.
“Our request is very realistic and easy to fulfill. We are not asking for a ban on Russian gas imports. We just want the government to order restrictions on its consumption. Such a regulation would be extremely effective: at a minimum for maximum performance. People are dying and it is completely immoral to fund the Russian invasion of Ukraine so that we can work in overheated offices. The heating season ends in May at the latest. I don’t see a reason why we can’t limit heating for a short time, “ wrote a spokeswoman for the Extinction Rebellion Czech Republic Veronika Holcnerová on Facebook.
