Bundesliga: Joker Junuzovic saves Salzburg against Rapid victory
Salzburg – Sunday, April 3rd, 2022, 6:54 p.m
The 25th match day of the Admiral Bundesliga between Red Bull Salzburg and SK Rapid ended with a 2-1 win for Salzburg thanks to a goal in injury time.
The sold-out Red Bull Arena offers a one-sided hit game at the beginning. After Junior Adamu missed a header after 13 minutes, Luka Sucic did better a few minutes later: the Croatian defeated Niklas Hedl in the Rapid goal with a well-placed bounce from distance (17′).
The guests from Hütteldorf initially remain completely harmless and invite the “bulls” into chances with many careless turnovers, but Noah Okafor with a header (23rd) and several Adamu (35th) cannot take advantage of them.
Compensation out of nothing
After the change of sides, a similar course of play is in the offing before Rapid equalizes out of nowhere: Christoph Knasmüllner, who was substituted at the break, happily serves Ferdy Druijf in the penalty area and the Dutchman shoots in to equalize (52′).
After that, both teams exchange blows, with Salzburg remaining the more dangerous team. Nicolas Capaldo also misses a seater in front of the quick empty goal (56′), Emanuel Aiwu quickly produces an own goal (74′).
In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the Mozart townsfolk celebrate the winning goal. Zlatko Junuzovic, who came on as a substitute in the 85th minute, sinks the ball on the five in a slide after Rapid poorly clears a cross.
Salzburg leads the Bundesliga championship group with seven laps to go and twelve points ahead of SK Sturm. Rapid, in fourth place, are still 17 points behind the “Bulls”.
