play in advance to eliminate violence and harassment in the workplace, stop wasting time!
Violence, harassment and discrimination in the world of work remain one of the pressing problems, affecting all countries, workers and workers, the way they work. And also San Marino in this area will have to begin to fill numerous gaps and undertake a virtuous path. It has been more than a year now that Usl in a press conference asked for the ratification of Convention 190 of the ILO and presented for the first time in San Marino a Protocol against violence and harassment in the workplace, with the aim of sharing a language, objectives and common values and to make the parties take on a formal and effective commitment to carry out in a coordinated perspective all those actions to prevent, fight and stop all forms of violence or harassment in the world of work and declare zero tolerance to this phenomenon. On November 25, 2021, the Labor, Interior and Health Secretariats presented the draft of the “National Multiannual Plan on the Elimination of Violence and Harassment and Gender Discrimination in the World of Work”. From we considered it a good starting point, taking note, with satisfaction, that it has largely included the proposals put forward in the Protocol by our organization, giving value to the collaboration and synergy between all those interested in banning gender-based violence in the our country. The month of March 2022 sees the ratification of the ILO Convention in the Great and General Council, a fundamental step towards acknowledging the problem, and therefore USL deems it urgent to proceed with the procedure of the Multiannual National Plan, and none of the parties should back down! Signing this document means putting another piece in the world of regulations, a true social pact between all the parties involved, a concrete commitment between OOSS and employers to work together urgently to prevent, fight and stop all forms of violence or harassment in the world of work, but also above all to bring out the phenomenon that is still largely hidden and submerged. To this end, we believe it is essential that employers and trade unions are united in this battle and that this can stimulate the courage to denounce in order to free ourselves from violence and not accept silently situations that are no longer tolerable. When it comes to an issue such as violence, you cannot beat around the bush, you need to anticipate with a strong sense of responsibility and courage: you don’t need to wait for certain facts to leap into the news, you need to act promptly so that violence, harassment and discrimination in the workplace they need answers “now”, as they are unfortunately a certain and dramatic reality and those who suffer them every day have the right to be protected and protected right away. Our hope is that more and more policies related to prevention, awareness raising and training are implemented and supported by a modern and complete legislative system, to educate to respect and create a working environment in which everyone’s dignity is respected, and dignity is preferred interpersonal relationships, based on principles of equality and mutual fairness.
