Three weeks before the first round of the 2022 presidential election, the Republican candidate Valerie Pécresse was in a meeting at the Pierre-Baudis congress center in Toulouse, in front of more than a thousand people.
Initially planned at Meett, the new exhibition center of the Toulouse metropolis, the meeting was finally organized at the congress center in the city center, esplanade Compans-Caffarelli. “We prefer to have a full room at Pierre-Baudis, rather than taking a risk in a very large and cold room at Meett”, then explained to Toulouse news Pierre Esplugas, co-president of his support committee in Haute-Garonne.
Jean-Luc Moudenc: “You always have to support your friends”
In the front row stand out the main local elected representatives of the right, such as Jean-Luc Moudenc (mayor of Toulouse), Brigitte Micoleau (senator from Haute-Garonne), Laurence Arribage (president of the Fédération des Républicains de Haute-Garonne and sports assistant at the town hall of Toulouse), Christine Gennaro-Saint (departmental secretary of the Republicans of Haute-Garonne), elected representatives of the Capitol (Maxime Boyer, Bertrand Serp and Pierre Esplugas, the referent in Haute-Garonne of the Free movement! of Valérie Pécresse…), but also elected officials from the region such as the mayor of Lavaur (Tarn) Bernard Carayonthe senator of Tarn-et-Garonne or the deputy of Lot and regional councilor of opposition to the Occitanie Region Aurelien Pradié.
Jean-Luc Moudenc opened this meeting by recalling his political loyalty.
“In life, you always have to support your friends. Valérie, the French will see it more and more: it’s the seriousness, the competence, the solidity, the experience of high responsibilities. It’s the audacity of getting into tough fights. You’ve proven that many times over.”
He also insisted on the security aspect. “The country lacks firmness. It is because you are going to restore order that I participate in your support committee in Haute-Garonne. On April 10, let’s vote for Valérie Pécresse! “.
One hour of speech
The Republican candidate, encouraged by the slogans of her young supporters such as “Macron burn the cash register, I vote for Pécresse” or “Macron in Touquet, Valérie at the Elysée”, spoke at 8:45 p.m. and gave a speech of one hour. She began by paying homage to the Toulouse and Occitan people, “fighters” of their “convictions”.
“Emmanuel Macron’s balance sheet is his ball and chain”
After recalling the “serious moment” that the world is going through with the war in Ukraine, a war “which has returned to the gates of Europe”, Valérie Pécresse indicated that “this war in Ukraine must not deprive our country of the debate democratic”, pointing the finger Emmanuel Macron’s “refusal of debate”. “It’s normal: Mr. Macron’s problem is that his balance sheet is his ball,” hammered the candidate.
In relation to the conflict taking place in the East of the world, Valérie Pécresse indicated that “in this presidential campaign, there are extremist candidates who have lost credibility with Vladimir Poutine like Madame Le Pen. Eric Zemmour said he dreamed of a French poutine. A candidate who has been financed by Russian interests cannot claim to preside over France”.
“Insecurity is a reality”
She then shelled the favorite subjects of the right such as family policy – and her proposal to “remove inheritance tax for 95% of French people” – security.
“I haven’t heard anything strong about the return of authority. Insecurity is not a feeling, it’s a reality. I want to make the municipal police the third force. A President of the Republic does not I shouldn’t utter the word police brutality.”
She designated herself as a “real candidate in the fight against welfare”, accusing Emmanuel Macron of plagiarism on his proposal to impose 15 hours of activity in return for payment of the Active Solidarity Income (RSA).
Budget of the armies, energy, ecology…
The candidate for the Elysée reiterated her objective of increasing the budget of the armies, of “restoring zero tolerance”. And talked a lot about energy.
“Emmanuel Macron began his five-year term by closing the Fessenheim power plant. Nuclear power is the pride of France and renewable energy will have to be developed. hydrogen. But on wind power, you need the agreement of the populations because the acceptance threshold has been exceeded. Ecology should not be confiscated by a party. When you love your country, you are necessarily an ecologist”.
The red thread of the candidate’s program in this area: “Recover our energy sovereignty. I want a zero carbon France in 2050. Our children expect us to save the planet. France has been condemned in court for not having followed the trajectory of the Paris agreements, ”she denounces.
“Volte-face” and “counterfeit”
Valérie Pécresse has abolished the nail: “Mr. Macron is an about-face, a counterfeit candidate. I will go to defend French interests in Brussels. Because in the end, it is the Germans who are always right. We need a balanced Franco-German partnership”.
Earlier in the day, Valérie Pécresse went to the Ohr Torah school, at the Roseraie, to recover at the Jewish school and to know the Monsonego spouses, whose daughter Myriam had been coldly killed during the attacks in Toulouse. in March 2012.
“I saw love at Ohr Torah school”
“When you attack a Jew from France, you attack the country. What I saw today in the Ohr Torah school is love. Mr. and Mrs. Monsonego stayed in the school, a lot of teachers too. I saw a France that was upright and inflexible”.
“Islam and Islamism are not the same thing. We know it here, in Toulouse”. “When you attack a Jew from France, you attack the country. What I saw in this school was love. The Monsonego couple stayed, the teachers stayed to teach. I saw a France upright and inflexible”. “Prayers of hate, with me, it’s in prison or on the plane”.
At the podium, the candidate summarized her program and her guideline: “This France that I want is the one that has the courage to reform, to release energy, to regain its sovereignty.
