On Wednesday, the members of the Slovak Athletic Club did not even think that their last meeting with the youth coach of the Slovak Athletic Club, Martin Illéš. They consulted with colleagues from the executive committee “materials for the next meeting.” But a few hours later, they learned a particularly sad news. “In the morning, unfortunately, fate has given a definitive end to Martin’s life chapter. He left suddenly, without saying goodbye. We will all miss him immensely – because of his friendly nature, because of his willingness, because of his zeal for the queen of sports, athletics, soul and body, “ noted his colleagues from the Slovak Athletic Club on their website.
Martin Illéš came from Liptovský Mikuláš. He devoted much of his life to athletics, which became his passion for life. Initially, he himself actively competed in this sport and “Was the Slovak national team in the 400 m run in the junior, junior and adult categories (he started in the European team). He was a multiple youth champion of Slovakia and a medalist in sprinting disciplines of various ages. In this most demanding sprinting discipline, he set his personal record up to 48.50 seconds, “ noted his colleagues on the web.
This important coach loved sports so much that he decided to study it at the University of Constantine the Philosopher in Nitra, where he managed to study physical education and an athletics coach. His steps then led to the Nitra sports grammar school, which is currently a secondary sports school. There he worked as an athletic coach.
He passed on his great sports experience and experiences to the youth for years. He managed to raise dozens of Slovak youth champions and representatives. From his management, for example, participants of the Under-18 World Championships Dušan Páleník (800 m) and Matúš Krčmár (200 and 400 m), junior European Championships Dušan Páleník (800 m, 5th to 4 × 400 m), Juraj Mokráš (15th 400 m, 5th at 4 × 400 m), European Under-23 European Championships Simona Takácsová (100 m ex.) In the senior category, his trustees achieved the greatest success of the quarterback Peter Žňava, who became a two-time participant in the European Championships in 2006 and 2010. He also participated in the European Indoor Championships in 2009 and the World Universiade. Martin has been training him since 2000, for up to 10 years. However, they later became colleagues. “Since 2007 they have been sitting in a common school cabinet. “We have been meeting almost daily for 20 years. It can’t affect a person. “ stated Žňava in an interview in the 4th issue of Slovak Athletics 2020, “ informed his colleagues from the union.
However, his colleagues will not become coaches and athletes, but neither will the family. Martin Illéš died on March 17, 2022 at the age of 42. The last farewell to him will be on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 11:00 am at the CSCM cemetery, Cabajská cesta in Nitra.
