It’s the great return of Mr Freeze. From April 1 to May 8, 2022, this exhibition dedicated to XXL size graffiti is set up in the district of the minimalin the former premises of the painting housewhich must be destroyed soon to make way for the future construction site of the third metro line.
A “very beautiful swan song”
“It’s, in a way, a very beautiful swan song for us, explains Cédric Deanjean, one of the co-managers of the Maison de la peinture, which carries the project. And that makes sense! We already knew the Toulouse graffiti artists who came to buy paint undercoat from us! »
As a reminder, theemblematic sign of the Minimes district moved from Boulevard de Suisse last December to settle 300 meters away, rue Ferdinand Lassalle. The old building, built in the 80s, which was bought by Tisséo, must be demolished in the coming months. In a few years, a metro station will indeed be located at the level of the former premises of the Maison de la peinture.
Before the places are razed
But before the complete destruction of the place and with the agreement of the new owner, the graffiti artists took place in the 3500 m² of building, to create monumental works. Even if the Mister Freeze team has been almost 100% renewed, the spirit of this XXL size graffiti exhibition is the same as that which prevailed during the previous exhibitions in Toulouse.
“In these premises we are in the perfect context to surprise people as we like to do, notes Cédric Lascours, alias Reso, for Mister Freeze. To be honest, it’s the kind of place we would have liked to graffiti if it had been decommissioned! »
Graffiti artists from Toulouse, but also some from further afield in the world will contribute to this exhibition Mr Freeze. The places will also host sports and cultural activities, in connection with urban culture.
“We will also offer a catering part and a bar part, explains Reso. We also organize workshops for children as well as private parties. »
