On loan from Chelsea this season, Emerson Palmieri is proving to be a solid and reliable left-back for OL. Les Gones would not be against keeping him for more than a year but, in addition to Chelsea, they will have to deal with Juventus’ interest in the Italian.
Sometimes happiness is in the loan. As a full-back, OL have become a designer due to Mattia De Sciglio’s experience last season on loan from Juventus Turin. The Lyonnais retained the experience this season with another international transalpine in the person of Emerson Palmieri. The Chelsea left-back has a CV and an interesting track record with a Champions League and Europa League won with the Blues. He was also European champion last summer with Italy starting in the final. An experience that translates into his performance with OL, both offensively and defensively. He easily took the starting position on the left of the defense and remains one of the great satisfactions of the last summer transfer window.
Juventus want the Italians from Chelsea
An interesting level that has not escaped anyone in Europe and, first and foremost, the club to which he belongs. Chelsea wanted to repatriate him this winter to fill their defense during Ben Chilwell’s big injury. But OL resisted and refused to end the Italian’s loan in the Rhône. Next summer, OL would not be against keeping him a little longer. However, the Gones are not in a strong position with Chelsea, the player’s salary and competition on the lookout.
Indeed, according to the Italian newspaper Tutosport, Juventus are on the move for Emerson. The Turin club is determined to take advantage of Chelsea’s current concerns to complete its team. In his viewfinder, the two Italian elements of the Blues, namely Jorginho and the side loaned to Lyon. The Bianconeri need a midfielder and the third for the 2021 Golden Ball has long pleased the Turin leaders. They also lack a left-back and they are ready to offer an attractive salary to Emerson Palmieri who does not have the confidence of Thomas Tuchel in London. A strong opponent for OL who risks giving up on this issue after next June.
